Process Painting
Process Painting is an exploration of this moment and the next and the next. It is a leap into not-knowing and curiosity.
The focus of traditional painting typically is product, whereas here the focus is about the process. Acrylic paint is the medium used to apply color to paper. The color choice and movement of the brush are dictated by listening to your intuition and following and noting your energy. To optimize the listening, we create in silence.
The paintings can appear very Alive, therefore it is easy to be distracted by the visual. The practice is to keep moving inward, leaving everything you know about yourself including your aesthetic and agenda behind.
While painting there is a connection with something deeper within yourself which you are encouraged to resist explaining or interpreting. It is an opening of your creative self and connecting with the source of creativity.
Before each session, I facilitate a movement, relaxation and laughter practice to ease the shift from being head focused to moving into the body. Hahahaha!
Collage
I encourage students to respond intuitively as well as explore and play with color, placement and balance.......And Ah Ha, Laughter!
Clay
My focus now is on teaching pitch pots. I love the variety, ease, accessibility and playfulness of this simple form with endless creative potential. I also offer classes to explore the freedom of creating knowing you will destroy what you have made by either smashing it or setting it outside in the weather to disintegrate. And YES..."Hahahaha!!!!"
