Hello and Welcome!
An Introduction to Why I am MAD about Laughter
Mary Ann Duffy here! So glad you showed up!!
It's unclear without knowing the title of the charming stone statue above (a photo I took in Tokyo, 2008) what exactly is going on.
What do you imagine?
Wow!! I like wow!! I am voting for WOW!!
Though wait a minute...hahaha, maybe they are laughing(YES!) or beginning to chant om or maybe singing? Hmm...not knowing is part of the fun! It's a thrill to wonder. Though, because we most likely will never know the artist's intention, the vocalization can be different at different times of viewing. Oh, I like that, creative viewing!! I think maybe I'll head to the bathroom mirror to play with the possibilities.
The ever changing vocalizing statue does exude sincerity while sharing.
I endeavor to move into each day with this same sincerity, open to curiosity, being O.K. with not knowing, and receiving and extending sharing. Let's break out together in song, an om and without a doubt laughter. Wow! Oh, Yes, Always Wowing. I'm inspired just thinking about our potential exchange.
Ah, and as for the cat(scroll up), do you see it? Uh huh, an invitation.
I feel enormously fortunate I get to venture into situations where I encourage people to smile, laugh, move and maybe even feel amazing!! I use the word venture because these experiences feel paradoxical, always somewhat risky( maybe the group I'm facilitating is resistant to laughter, hahahaha) but yet at the same time, I know I have nothing to lose when I show up, all there, letting love and presence take over.
Facilitating this practice is joyful, mostly effortless, hahahaha. I also receive so much, it is heart expansive. However, I still need to restore. Sometimes a lot. I'm increasingly making more time to be a cat.
A day never passes when I don't spontaneously or intentionally laugh numerous times with others and on my own; anytime, just about anywhere I can get away with it, Ha! This can be boisterous laughter with my spouse, family, friends, or strangers. On my own, maybe softer laughter; in silent meditation(haha), when feeling something glorious, sitting with something painful, during and after an awe walk/wander, or swinging on a swing. Laughter is often an ah ha moment, a pause; an opening of the heart and humor, proactiveness and play. It helps me celebrate, savor, or step forward and begin again.
